IOM assisted the Government of Suriname in launching a website to gather information on the skills, experiences and interests of Surinamese diaspora members, and to engage it in contributing to the country’s development. These will be through investment, trade and repatriation of skills.
On the 7th of January 2017 IOM The Hague and the Ethiopian association for Ethiopian Tigray in the Netherlands (Vereniging van Ethiopische Tigreers in Netherland – (VETN) organized an information meeting on IOM’s CD4D project.
In December the kick off meeting for IOM the Netherlands’ project Connecting Diaspora for Development (CD4D) took place in Rabat, Morocco.
On 10 October 2016, IOM facilitated a meeting between a high level Afghan delegation and Afghan diaspora organisations, represented by MCAN (Medical Committee Afghanistan Netherlands) and Keihan Foundation.
A selected group of CD4D participants took part in a first crowdfunding training on 7 February.
